The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small, British toy dog breed known for being gentle, loyal, and adaptable. They are often described as the perfect lap dog, enjoying cuddles and noisy greetings. Named after King Charles II of England, who was rarely seen without his spaniels, the breed comes in four recognized colors: ruby, black and tan, tricolour, and Blenheim. They have a smooth, silky coat, floppy ears, and long backs.
The Cavalier is a sweet, gentle, and affectionate breed, very eager to please their human. They are friendly with strangers and with other animals, and they can do very well with children. They are smart and train easily, and Cavaliers excel in a number of canine sports including obedience, rally, and agility.
